These fennel pepper biscuits make a tasty snack, and are especially good with soup.
Fennel Pepper Biscuits
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2-1 tablespoon pepper, depending on how spicy you like them
- 1 tablespoon anise or fennel seeds
- 2 eggs beaten, reserve 1 tablespoon to brush on the biscuits
- 1 cup mild olive oil
- 1 cup milk
Mix all dry ingredients together. Make a well in the center, and add oil, milk, and eggs. Mix well. Roll to form a long rod, then, pinch ends together to make a circle. (you can also shape them into breadsticks). Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with reserved egg yolk.
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
